Custom Auto Paint in Galloway, New Jersey

1 min read

Paint is mixed, tinted, and spray-tested in house at our auto body shop until the match is guaranteed rather than hoped for.

What a real match takes

A customer named Justin brought us a truck wanting the paint matched perfectly. The vehicle came apart piece by piece so every component could be refinished individually. Each plastic part was sanded and primed until the original rough texture was gone, because a smooth foundation is what a flawless finish sits on.

The three-stage red was mixed here, then tinted and spray-tested repeatedly until it matched. Parts were baked in the booth to seal and cure before reassembly. That is what the phrase color match means when it is done properly, and it is not a fast process.

Old paint and discontinued colors

Harder still is matching a finish nobody makes anymore. A 1933 Plymouth Street Rod came in with front-end damage and custom paint that had been applied nearly twenty-five years earlier. Matching it took extensive tinting and several rounds of testing before we would commit.

A twenty-year-old Harley with a discontinued, year-specific color got the same treatment. We told the owner we would get within 98 percent and we did, then suggested a rock coating on the underside of the fender before painting, which he had not expected anyone to offer.

The everyday work

Full repaints. Scratch removal. Bumper refinishing after a scrape. Blending a single repaired panel into its neighbors so no edge is visible. Custom work on cars, trucks, and motorcycles.
